According to data from the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual(ICA)“Inside Out 2”, which has been collected until September 22, has seen 1,289,053 spectators, and has grossed €7.7 million since its premiere in July in Portuguese cinemas.
With these figures, Kelsey Mann's animated feature film has become the film with the highest audience and revenue in Portugal since 2004, the year in which the ICA began to organize and collect statistical data on the operation of cinemas.
In Portugal, Inside Out 2 is ahead of Jon Favreau's The Lion King (2019), which was the most watched (with 1,281,657 viewers), and James Cameron's Avatar (2009), which was the most profitable (with €7.2 million).
Inside Out 2's performance in Portugal is in line with the film's global performance, which currently stands at $1.6 billion (about €1.4 billion) across all territories where it has been released, a record for an animated film.
“Inside Out 2” is a sequel to the 2015 Pixar animated film, written by Pete Docter and Ronnie del Carmen, in which the main characters are the emotions – Joy, Sadness or Anger – inside the head of “little girl Riley”.
The second film returns to Riley's mind, now a teenager, with new personalities such as anxiety and shyness.
The voice cast of the original version includes, among others, Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, Kensington Talman, Lisa Lapira, and Ayo Edebiri.
