(Washington) – Joe Biden reiterated Wednesday that his support for Israel is “unwavering” in the face of threats of retaliation from Iran after the deadly attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.
The US President said during a joint press conference at the White House with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, that Iran “threatens to launch a major attack against Israel.”
He added: “As I told Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel’s security, in the face of these threats from Iran and its allies, is unwavering.”
“I repeat: unwavering. We will do everything in our power to protect Israel’s security,” Joe Biden continued.
This comment comes at a time of intense tension between the US President and the Israeli Prime Minister, Joe Biden, who publicly ruled, for example, that Benjamin Netanyahu was making a “mistake” in Gaza.
