JS Kabylie decided to terminate the duties of Portuguese coach Rui Almeida due to insufficient results, according to what sporting director Azzedine Ait Godi announced Thursday in a video posted on the club’s Facebook page.
The club's management took the decision to separate from the Portuguese technician after an “objective assessment” of the club's situation since the arrival of Rui Almeida in October 2023.
“As sporting director of JS Kabylie, I have followed the work done by the Portuguese technician on the field and in the dressing room for more than a month and, frankly, I am not convinced by his way of doing things. We have discussed this situation with the club management and have decided to terminate Almeida’s duties,” Ait Godi said. .
The temporary job will be taken over by Mohamed Lasset and goalkeeping coach Lounes Kaououi, in addition to the physical coach, pending the appointment of a new coach.
We have some resumes of coaches and, in consultation with the club president, we will select the best profile. Our goal is to please the public and return JS Kabylie to its rightful place.”
As a reminder, Rui Almeida was appointed head of the technical staff of JS Kabylie on October 14, 2023, succeeding Youssef Bouzidi, who was dismissed 3 days after the French League Championship.
Rui Almeida, 54, has coached several Ligue 2 clubs, including Red Star, Bastia, Troyes and Caen. He also spent a short spell on the bench for Portuguese club Gil Vicente in 2020.
On the eve of the fifteenth day of the Mobilis First Division, JS Kabylie is in ninth place with 19 points. It will host US Souf on Saturday at 4 p.m.
