Shooting stars are a bewitching sight. And in August, in Quebec, we’re lucky enough to be able to enjoy showers of stardust during the famous Perseid season.

In order to make the most of it, Mont-Ham and Life’s Better Outside (LBO) are holding a one-of-a-kind evening event on Thursday, August 10: Experience under the Perseids.
This night of astronomical observing will take place at Mont Ham Provincial Park, in the eastern suburbs. With its elevation of 713 meters and 360-degree panoramic views, it is the perfect mountain to enjoy the Perseids.
Firstly, you are welcome from 3:30 pm to take a walk through the La Panoramique trail (about 2.7 km long, 345 meters high). Once you reach the top, you can set up camp for the night.
A two-part hiking initiation workshop is also offered to participants.
First, the virtual preparatory meeting will cover various topics such as basics, equipment weight, fear, and planning, with a Q&A section to answer your questions.
Then, part two will be done on the day of the event with the pre-departure check, hike and campsite selection.
Finally, the evening activities will continue with a campfire cooking workshop and appetizers, and finally an observing Perseids at 10pm before bed. The next morning, after a workshop on meditation and “breathing” with Les Âmes Fleuries, you’ll be back home!
The LBO organizes festivals and experiences to “create connections between players in the outside community”.
