Spain snatched a 2-2 draw at home to the Czech Republic as part of the second day of Group 2 of the League of Nations League on Sunday. At the same time, Portugal made short work of Switzerland (4-0). After a draw with Portugal on Thursday, Spain caught a cold in the Czech Republic who opened the scoring four minutes later via Jakub Pesek. Luis Enrique’s players reacted sluggishly and finally equalized with a few seconds of rest thanks to Jaffe’s goal (45 + 3) who became the youngest scorer in the history of “Roga” at 17 and 304 days.
With a stampede, Spain was surprised again in the second half. Fired at the rear, Jan Kochta subtly put pressure on Unai Simon to reclaim the lead for the Czechs (66th).
Then the Spaniards pushed to equalize and were rewarded in the last seconds through Inigo Martinez (90th place).
Against Switzerland, Portugal made the difference in the first half. After a panic over Seferovic’s goalkeeper, the VAR canceled it because of a handball, the Portuguese scored the first goal from William Carvalho (15th). Then Cristiano Ronaldo entered the scene and scored two goals in four minutes (35, 39).
Note that as we can see under the pictures below, CR7’s mother, present at the stadium, couldn’t hide her tears at all of her son’s accomplishments. A beautiful moment.
In the second half, A Seleção still had many chances to increase the score and Joao Cancelo took advantage of the generosity of the Swiss defense to set the final score 4-0 (68).
In the Group 2 standings, the Czech Republic and Portugal share the lead with 4 points, ahead of Spain (2) and Switzerland (0). During the third day scheduled for Thursday, June 9, Portugal will host the Czech Republic and Spain will head to Switzerland.
