Milan players continue to post messages on social media expressing their shock at the sudden dismissal of Paolo Maldini, including Rafael Leao. ‘Thank you is not enough.’
The club icon has been in charge since 2018 and has been a constant presence at Milanello’s training ground, maintaining close relationships with the players.
They were understandably shocked when Maldini was fired, and now that the news is official, they have been posting letters that can only indicate what they wish to say.
Most of them are emoji or photographs, including Sandro Tonali and Mike Maignan, but Leao was the first to put them into words.
“Thank you is not enough… A perfect person with a big heart and unparalleled determination. It was a pleasure to have lived moments with you… I wish you the best in the future! Always Milan.”
Liao accompanied this message with a series of photos showing the two of them together in recent years.
Earlier, the Portuguese talent first posted a pensive emoji and then a video of himself in his car reflecting that he was gawking at himself.
Now that the decision has been made, it remains to be seen how players in public will react when asked more openly about this situation.
