Science r on the side. The famous institution has announced that it has registered nearly 12,000 applications for all its post-baccalaureate courses, following the wish formulation stages of Parcoursup. “Compared to 2020, we still have an increase of about 60%. Therefore, we still have a very large pool of candidates and attractiveness,” rejoices Matthias Fischerat, Director of the Science Center.
The end of the entrance exam
The sharp increase in the number of candidates is explained by the reform of access to political science. At the beginning of the 2021 academic year, he entered the Paris Institute of Political Studies Parcoursup, abandoning the traditional and selective entrance examination, and thus changing the admission procedure. The administration is now evaluating the school file, the results obtained in the baccalaureate, the personal writings (which will be attached to the file) and finally the oral (if the file is good enough). Four tests were evaluated each out of 20.
“Last year, we were a little surprised by the number of orders, so we took those elements into account, and we recruited more people for the management part. We have 800 screeners planned this year,” explains Matthias Fischerat.
Between 1,100 and 1,200 places for the next academic year
The director, who has been in office since last November, stressed that the candidates represented “all academies, including abroad.” “The rate of scholarship holders in candidates increases from 12% in 2021 to 14% this year,” the director asserts.
For the next academic year, the Institute of Science will offer “approximately 1,100 to 1,200 places” for the Parcoursup track. Science po “is not a competition so there is no fixed number of places” and “we also have 50% of international students, who are subject to other types of admission procedures”, confirms Matthias Fischerat.
