Ten days before their Champions League quarter-final match, Milan overtook Napoli at Diego Maradona in Serie A (4-0). The Lombards climb the platform.
Match: 0-4Ahead of the upcoming double showdown in the quarter-finals of the Champions League (April 12 and 18), Milan have largely dominated Napoli in the tournament, reducing the leaders’ lead over second-placed Lazio to 16 points.
Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz, the Rossoneri wingers, were excellent. The first was first drawn at the opening of the second. The Portuguese went deep into the defence, heading a ball at Alex Merritt to open the scoring (0-1, 17).

His counterpart on the right followed him in a quarter of an hour: after a procedure near the surface led by Giroud and Leo, Bennacer crossed from the left and his ball, despite its deflection, found Brahim Diaz on the surface. After a hook to eliminate Mario Rui, the Spaniard unleashed a powerful shot from the left which, despite a deflection from Kim Min-jae, took Merritt into default (0-2, 25).
Napoli did not give the impression of being able to return, after it was hampered by Victor Osimhen’s package, and Giovanni Simeone overcame it. Worse yet, the Neapolitans sank an exposed ball into the center circle by Sandro Tonali, who knocked Liao out to the left. Former LOSC player Amir Rahmani entertained before blasting a shot from the right into Mert’s side-netting (0-3, 60). The match then turned into a correction, when Alexis Saelemaekers had plenty of time to sneak into the Napoli defense without really being embarrassed, before closing up close against Meret (0-4, 77).

Still a wide leader, Napoli thus lost to Milan in the first of their three April encounters. The Lombards take advantage of this convincing success to climb to the podium, four points ahead of Lazio, one point ahead of Inter.
