Portuguese football was a bit of a slouch this weekend. But there were still four highlights that marked our weekend.
Vitoria SC beat SC Braga
With a very strong start to the season, including the first qualification for a Portuguese club in the Conference League, Vitória continued their momentum and faced SC Braga in the Minho derby. Guimarães, who had not won in Braga since 2017, managed to win 2-0 thanks to goals from João Mendes and Tomas Ribeiro. Rui Borges' men are currently third in the championship (12 points), while Carlos Carvalhal's men are seventh (8 points).
Successful return for Bruno Lage
Return to Benfica after Roger Schmidt's sacking, Bruno Lage He led his first match against Santa Clara on Saturday. The Encarnados won 4-1, thanks to the Turkish duo Kerem Aktürkoğlu, who made his debut under his new colours, and Orkun Gökçe, who set up two goals.

Francisco Trincao shines
Having made an excellent start to the season, Francisco Trincão was once again of great value in Sporting Lisbon's 0-3 win over Arouca last Friday. He set up the first goal and turned on the scorer for the third after a great individual effort. Five days into the tournament, the player who played with Jota in the youth ranks in Portugal has a record of three goals and an assist. Solid.
