Twenty middle school students made an impression with an interactive escape game during the Science Village, where they explored the “Ocean of Knowledge” theme.
Middle School Science Club participation in the Forges de Pyrène Science Village was a major milestone at the beginning of the school year. Twenty student volunteers, from fifth to third grade, carefully prepared an original escape game and presented it to the public during the three days of the event.
Claire Carlier, Catherine Mathieu, Sylvie Le Parc and the supervising teachers do not hide their pride: “The students have shown a remarkable investment in creating this project. Some of them have been involved in the Science Village for three years. They started in the fifth grade and are now in the third grade. It is wonderful.” To see their curiosity about science grow and improve over the years, they met for five weeks and worked hard to prepare their stand » The theme of this edition of the Science Village was “The Ocean of Knowledge”, with a focus on global warming and ocean conservation and to stick to this theme, Imagine The students played an interactive escape game that involved the five senses and dressed up as pirates for the occasion. “This disguise aroused the curiosity of visitors, who came in larger numbers to our booth!” “says Elias.
The escape game provided different sensory experiences. For example, for the sense of smell, the students themselves created essential oils that participants had to identify. To touch on it, they proposed an experimental activity on electrical conduction. This project was not only a science experiment, but also a unique opportunity for students to develop presentation skills, such as public speaking, enrich scientific vocabulary, and articulate speech. “This is ideal preparation for the National Brevet Oral Examination,” the professors point out.
For their part, the students expressed their happiness with this rich experience. “It was both educational and fun!” “We had a great time and it was great to see that the visitors really appreciated our work,” Camille shares enthusiastically. “This is the third year I have been participating and every time I have had success. “We leave with a lot of good memories,” concludes Mahelia.
