(Harrisonville) A 78-year-old woman with two prior bank robbery convictions faces new charges after authorities claim she gave a cashier a note saying ‘I didn’t mean to scare you,’ during a recent robbery in Missouri.


Bonnie Gooch is being held on a $25,000 bond after being charged with theft or attempted robbery of a financial institution Wednesday in Pleasant Hill, according to reports. Kansas City Star. Her lawyer is not listed in online court records.

She was also convicted of two bank robberies in California in 1977 and one in the Lee’s Summit suburb of Kansas City in 2020. Her probation for the second robbery ended in November 2021.

Court documents filed in Cass County in the latest case said the flight warrant asked for “13,000 small tickets,” adding, “Thank you, sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Cass County prosecutors say CCTV also caught her banging on the counter, telling the cashier to hurry up.

Prosecutors added that she smelled a strong smell of alcohol when officers stopped her less than two miles away, with cash strewn across the floor of the vehicle.

“It’s sad,” said Pleasant Hill Police Chief Tommy Wright, adding that the suspect did not have a misdiagnosis.
