Already in its third edition in its current form, the event continues to gain popularity if we are to believe the environmental engineer and event director, Etienne Levesque. He confirms: “Last year we received more than 300 people and we expect to receive more this year.”
Activities for everyone
The winning formula for this event, as in years past, provides a happy mix of exhibitors, speakers and craftsmen. “A variety of local artisans were invited to promote local buying,” explains Etienne Levesque.
The day begins with coffee and brioche with the mayor. This will be followed by a children's play about recycling entitled Recovery and dragon Submitted by Tricentris. Children can also ride a pony and participate in a kite workshop.
For older children, a conference on the Doncaster River watershed will be followed by a dinner conference with Ferme Impossible owner Dominic Lamontagne. In the afternoon, ornithologist Martin Pickard will present a bird conference.
Get information
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to discover different exhibitors to obtain information about the main environmental issues in the region and discuss possible solutions for a greener future. Several municipal committees will be on site to talk about their activities and chat with visitors, including the Sainte-Lucie Outdoor Club, the Sainte-Lucie Nutrition Society, the Trails Committee, SEPAQ and Abrinord. “Aldermen will be there to talk about cyanobacteria and riparian zones,” says Mr. Levesque.
Trees will also be distributed free of charge to interested visitors and it will be possible to purchase plants on site. Door prizes will also be drawn at the end of the day.
Activities will take place in the village community hall (church) located at 2024 chemin des Hauteurs between 9am and 4pm.
