New vaccines introduced in Silla

Chad takes a new step in the fight against childhood diseases. During the advocacy meeting held in Goz Beda, health authorities announced the imminent introduction of two new vaccines into the Expanded Program on Immunization. This decision represents an important step forward in protecting the health of Chadian children.

For many years, Chad has made significant efforts to improve the health of its population, in particular by promoting routine vaccination. This program already helps protect children from ten major diseases that affect children.

Going forward, the Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with its partners, has decided to extend the vaccination schedule to include two new vaccines.

This virus is the leading cause of severe diarrhea in infants, which can lead to severe dehydration and even death. A new oral vaccine will significantly reduce the number of cases of diarrhea associated with rotavirus.

Pneumococcus is a bacteria that causes many serious infections in young children, such as pneumonia, meningitis, and ear infections. The pneumococcal vaccine will help protect children from these deadly diseases.

The introduction of these new vaccines has many public health benefits. By protecting children from serious diseases, these vaccines will save many lives. Vaccinated children will be less susceptible to diseases and therefore will be able to grow up healthy and fully developed. Preventing diseases is much less expensive than treating them.

Starting October 25, 2024, the new vaccines will be gradually rolled out across Chad. An awareness campaign will be implemented among communities to educate parents about the importance of vaccinating their children.
