The CEO of OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, tried to dispel a rumor that an announcement of an AI-powered search engine was imminent.
OpenAI has scheduled a live announcement at 10:00 a.m. PT on Monday.
According to a Reuters article published on Thursday, OpenAI is preparing to announce its own AI-powered search engine, thus positioning itself as a serious competitor to online search giant Google.

This announcement does not mean that the company is not working on developing such a tool, because according to “The Information” and “Bloomberg” websites, OpenAI had previously announced such a development.
According to The Information, the product will be powered in part by Bing in collaboration with Microsoft, a major investor and partner in OpenAI. While Bloomberg said it will work as a feature within ChatGPT, allowing the chatbot to search the web and cite its sources, making it less ambiguous when it comes to the origin of responses.
