(Harrisburg) Pennsylvania county officials announced Friday that an investigation has been opened because election officials have identified about 2,500 voter registration forms that may be fraudulent.
“Board of Elections staff identified and contained incidents of voter registration fraud,” the Lancaster County Board of Elections said in a news release early Friday. “Elections staff and the District Attorney’s Office are currently evaluating the nature and extent of the fraud,” the statement read. »
Pennsylvania is a swing state in the November 5 elections, as opinion polls indicate that the presidential race is close and that there are 19 electoral votes at stake.
Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams, a Republican, and the three county commissioners have scheduled a news conference to describe how the registration forms were identified and isolated, as well as the investigation.
The Board of Elections consists of three commissioners: Republicans Ray D'Agostino and Josh Parsons and Democrat Alice Yoder.
The county press release said the registrations in question arrived in two batches shortly before the deadline to register to vote in Pennsylvania, which was last Monday.
