Pepe, 41, and Silvia Rebelo, 35, join Carla Cotto, Luis Figo, Fernando Cotto, Ricardinho and Eder in the group of national team ambassadors.
“Sylvia [Rebelo] And Pepe represent not only excellence and dedication, but also the values and culture that Portuguese football stands for. Portuguese Football Federation President Fernando Gomes said their appointment as ambassadors reflects recognition of the invaluable contribution they have made to Portuguese football.
Pepe ended his international career in the 2024 European Championship, in which Portugal was eliminated by France in the quarter-finals, after 141 matches with the Portuguese national team, a record surpassed only by Cristiano Ronaldo (212) and Joao Moutinho (146).
Silvia Rebelo represented Portugal 124 times, most recently against Vietnam, in the history of participation in the 2023 World Cup, which is the first for the Portuguese team in the tournament.
Fernando Gomez said: “Both of them have been an inspiration throughout their careers, showing that no matter the challenges, great things can be achieved through work and passion for football.”
