New polls released Saturday in the United States showed Kamala Harris winning over Donald Trump in three key states, reversing the trend of recent months, at a time when the Republican campaign is struggling in the face of new momentum from the Democrats.

According to the surveys conducted by New York Times Siena College, the US vice president, leads her Republican rival in the November elections by 50% of voting intentions to 46% in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, three important states in the Midwest.
Due to a particular electoral system, US presidential elections are generally held in a few key states, which can lean right or left, out of the fifty states that make up the country.
But the positive dynamic on the Democratic side since Joe Biden's withdrawal in favor of Kamala Harris does not prevent voters, according to opinion polls, from preferring Donald Trump on the two main issues of the campaign, which are the economy and immigration.
However, according to these same polls, people surveyed consider her to be more intelligent and have a better personality to rule the country.
The Republican candidate's campaign team questioned, in a statement, the credibility of these published polls, according to it, “with the clear intent and goal of reducing support for President Trump.”
In 2016, polls underestimated Donald Trump’s support. Kamala Harris’ lead is within the average margin of error of the polls, which is 4.5 points.
Tuesday's announcement that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz would be Kamala Harris's running mate appears to have galvanized Democrats.
Before Joe Biden (81 years old) withdrew, Donald Trump (78 years old) was the most likely candidate, especially after the assassination attempt and his victory at the Republican convention in July.
The entry of Kamala Harris, 59, shook the Republican presidential campaign, and then focused heavily on Joe Biden's age and widespread concerns about his physical and mental abilities.
Since then, neither Donald Trump's attacks on Kamala Harris's origins nor the controversy sparked by previous comments made by his colleague J.D. Vance have been able to truly revive the Republican campaign.
But observers warn that Democrats should be wary of being too optimistic, with Donald Trump remaining the overall favorite in national polls.
