This Sunday evening, Portuguese football fought a duel for the top spot, in the final of the Portuguese Cup. FC Porto Swords have crossed paths with Sporting for a legendary poster. Leões, already Portuguese champions, were aiming for a new title at the end of the season, but the Dragões dominated the match, although the battle was intense throughout the encounter between the forces of Sergio Conceicao and those of Ruben Amorim. However, it was Sporting who opened the scoring following Jiri Sant Justi (20'), but Brazilian striker Evanilson quickly equalized for Porto (25').
The game then turned in the Dragões' favor when Leões' scorer, Jerry Saint-Just, saw red (29th position) for an intentional foul as the last defender. It took extra time trying to decide between the two teams. At the age of ten, Sporting was no longer able to resist any longer and Iranian international player Mehdi Taremi led his team to victory (2-1) from a penalty kick (100th minute). With this trophy for Porto, every major Portuguese club won a title this year: Benfica in the Super Cup, Braga in the League Cup, and Sporting in the Championship.
