In May 2023, an international committee of about twenty architects and specifiers visited Portugal at the invitation ofAnnette – National Association of Extractive and Processing Industries, as part of the project “Pedra Portuguesa, O Natural Caminho” – Sistema support for collective actions – co-financed by Compete 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Regional Development Fund.
The main objective of this promotional action for international selectors, inside and outside Europe, is to raise awareness among international guests about the reality and export potential of the Portuguese natural stone sector, as well as to offer site visits to different companies representing the Portuguese. According to Jorge Mira Amaral, PresidentAnnette, “(…) It is difficult to find a place in Europe, or in the world, where Portuguese natural stone is not found. It is necessary to mention that, despite its small size, Portugal, among the main producers and exporters of natural stone for ornamental purposes, ranks seventh in the world and third in Europe.
The visit of this delegation to Portugal follows a wide range of measures that were implemented over the past two yearsAnnettealways with the aim of promoting the Portuguese natural stone sector in the different geographical regions of the world, such as the promotional actions carried out in the sector’s markets, such as the United States of America, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Germany, Finland and others.
This initiative will culminate in the third edition of the International Natural Stone Congress, which will be held in Porto Casa da Musica.
