Perhaps the Derby of Fear would be a great indulgence for Servite. Grenat’s side achieved a very important 2-1 win over Lausanne Sport during the ninth day of the Premier League, thanks to goals from Miroslav Stefanovic (54′) and Derek Kutesa (56′) in the space of two minutes.
Without Jeremy Fricke (back), the Garnets endured a lot of torment in the first half. Trailing in the second half after Alvin Sanchez’s 39th-minute success, Rene Weiler’s side managed to rebound even though all the lights were red.
The sterile dominance, the high regard for key recruit Jérémie Guilleminau and the injuries to Steve Royler (22) and Jérôme Onghene (44) suggest the worst. But that was without counting on the extra spirit that allowed them to turn the tide of the match, to the delight of 9,023 spectators at the Geneva Stadium.
Lausanne is about bad luck
With one point in their last 5 matches, Lausanne is in real trouble. A place in the top six seems illusory for a promoted player. Even if they had the chance during this derby, the Vaudois have too many shortcomings to look beyond keeping it.
In Geneva, the poor performances of Raïs Illy and Caly Ceni, two of the great promises of the transfer window, reflect a reality: like Servette FC, Lausanne Sport’s recruitment unit is far from flawless.
