Launched in October, the Redmi Note 12 family was expanded further at the end of December with a new model with an evocative name since it’s the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition! full programme.
Despite its name, the main novelty of this brand new Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition is no faster charging than Note 12 Pro. There’s really no change in this department, as the Speed edition includes the same technologies with support for USB Power Delivery versions 2.0 and 3.0, as well as QuickCharge 3.0.

There are no or very few changes on the design side, just a few changes on the margins at the level of the image block.
But then, where are the differences? Redmi put the package on the chip: from the Dimensity 1080 in the Note 12 Pro, we go to the Snapdragon 778G. The main camera is now a 108MP Samsung sensor, compared to 50MP on the other model. For the rest, the block reserves an 8MP ultra wide angle and 2MP macro.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition’s OLED display is 6.67 inches Full HD+ with a 120Hz refresh rate. For selfies, there’s a 16MP camera in a punch-hole at the top of the board. 5G is included, as is a USB-C port and 3.5mm jack port. In short, a mid-range smartphone that looks quite convincing on paper at least.
Unlike the Redmi Note 12 Pro, this Speed Edition comes with MIUI 14 skinned on Android 13, which is a generation ahead of the previous smartphone. Prices start at 1,699 yuan (about 230 euros) for the 6 GB and 128 GB storage version, and up to 1,999 yuan (270 euros) for the 12 GB / 256 GB version. Redmi will sell this version in China, and the manufacturer has not announced Anything related to international marketing.
