UQAR launches four graduate programs in cybersecurity and data science.
Université du Québec à Rimouski will improve its computer training offer. Starting in fall 2023, two Specialized Graduate Studies (DESS) and two short postgraduate programs in Data Science and Cyber Security will be offered at the Rimouski and Levis campuses.
DESS in Data Science aims to train IT professionals who are able to create added value from raw data and use it for decision support within the organization that employs them. This is a 30-credit course offered part-time and full-time.
For its part, DESS aims in cybersecurity to train computer scientists who specialize in protecting equipment, applications and data, as well as in detecting and correcting potential vulnerabilities in computer systems. This 30-credit hour program will be offered on a full-time and part-time basis.
Dean of Studies, Karen Lemarchand, says: “The launch of these two specialized postgraduate degrees fills a gap for computer science graduates who want to acquire advanced skills in data science and cybersecurity. These are also important issues for organizations whose activities are increasingly taking place in virtual mode.”
This second cycle short program in Cybersecurity allows you to gain advanced skills in issues such as cryptography, access control, intrusion detection, digital investigation, and security in the Internet of Things. The second cycle short program in Data Science aims to train specialists in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data visualization, statistical methods, and big data. These are two courses of 15 credit hours each offered on a part-time basis.
“These four postgraduate programs are good starting points for students who wish to pursue a master’s degree in order to explore current topics in computer science, particularly in artificial intelligence,” concludes the Director of the Computer Science Program Committee, Prof. Yassin Yadadin.
