Algeria: In his first reaction to the court’s request for an 18-month prison sentence, former national team player and coach Rabah Madjer denied all charges against him in the case of illegally benefiting from public advertisements.
Majer said in a statement to Al-Hayat TV that the problem lies in the problem of Al-Balagh newspaper as a business, not the problem of Rabah Majjar as a person.
The owner of the “Golden Heel” denied that the newspaper “Al-Balagh” he owned had benefited from the public advertising of the National Corporation for Publishing and Advertising.
The former Porto star said: “The sitting judge asked the lawyer whether the company that published the newspaper of the communication benefited from ANEP money, the answer was quick and it did not get pennies, and the lawyer submitted all the court records to the court. Judgment on me.
The spokesperson added: “I spoke with the head of the court and informed him of the dissolution of the company and the newspaper at the notary public on November 3, 2019 and withdrew from them with an official document indicating the final liquidation of the company. »
Majer continued to defend himself: “I went to Doha on November 4, 2019 and stayed there for a very long time and I let the administrator do his job, and things were settled for me. As for the problem, I saw it in March 2020. I have nothing to do with this issue, neither near nor far.
He continued, “I don’t care at all about the lies that are told on social media because I have taken all the legal measures that I have to take.”
The spokesman concluded: “It is over for me in this case… I have great confidence in Algerian justice and the truth will appear to public opinion next week.”
The Public Prosecutor of the Court of Sidi M’hamed requested, this Thursday morning, the imprisonment of Rabah Mager for 18 months.
Majer sues if public advertising is profited by fraud, fraud, forgery, and the use of counterfeiting and misrepresentation.
According to Al-Fajr website, the representative of the common law demanded that the case be re-amended from a crime of fraud to a crime of attempted fraud.
The National Agency for Editing and Publication is a civil party in the case, demanding compensation of up to 4 billion centimes.
In a previous press release, the former director of the agency revealed that Majer had benefited from advertising contracts for the newspapers “Al Balagh” and “Al Balagh Al Riyadi” which amounted to 30 billion centimes, despite the fact that these titles had stopped appearing.
