“Everything he says is false. Nothing stands up.” The president of the Portuguese club Gond, Amadeo de Sousa, does not take heed of the comments made by his counterpart from Merbens, François Souton, in our columns this Friday.
As a reminder, on March 31, the referee stopped a D1 match between the two clubs after a spectator insulted a player from Merbens (B), calling him “dirty black” before threatening to kill him.
François Sauton confirmed on Friday that the leader of Gund-Pontolf had not filed a complaint following the events that took place in his stadium, as the latter announced in our columns the day after the events. “I went to file a complaint in Cognac on Wednesday, April 3,” defends Amadeo de Souza, using the hearing report as his support.
Accused by boss Merbenoit of knowing the author of the insults – “one of his friends, the former licensee, there every Sunday” – De Souza is careful to give his account: “He never played at the club, that's not the case. He's not my friend, we know him by eye but we don't know his identity. That's why we filed a complaint against X.”
“The Portuguese club respected the procedure.”
Angry at the decision of the district disciplinary committee – to replay the match behind closed doors – François Souton regretted that the Portuguese from Gunde “was not fined for his problems with the treasury.” “What right does he have to judge our accounts? I think all the clubs would like to act.” Like us economically, there was no question about the fine,” answers Amadeo de Souza.
The Charente region, which was also implicated by François Sauton, wanted, through its president, Gilles Rouffgnat, to clarify some points, in particular that the person involved had never been expelled by the Portuguese.
“The Portuguese club Jund Pontofer immediately respected measures to combat ‘racism and discrimination’ by excluding spectators from the perimeter of the stadium.” […] The Disciplinary Committee, like the Region, is not “lenient” in dealing with cases of this kind, as evidenced by the sanctions already taken against players and/or clubs during the season. »
