In all, about forty volunteers from the association will be mobilized as of the end of the morning. “At 12:30 p.m., the drummer band will play and we will have a little parade,” explains Marcel Augusto, president.
Orchestra, fado, folklore … a total of five musical groups will receive visitors. In terms of catering, there is barbecue on the menu, as well as cod. It is also planned to display Portuguese cultural products. For children, an inflatable structure will be created. The entertainment will continue until 6 or 7 p.m., depending on the weather.
More than 130 members
The President hopes the event will attract a wide audience. “We communicated a lot, especially on social networks. We had organized our first Portuguese day in 2018, as part of the association’s 40th anniversary. It worked out really well,”
Stagnated by the health crisis, the friendly Portuguese side of Contrexéville appears to be back on the right track. At the end of last year, the number of members dropped to less than 90 people. It’s been better since February. We have new members. Today we are over 130”, rejoices Marcel Augusto, a hint of relief in his voice. All that remains is to hope that the weather will be sunny this weekend.
