An AFP journalist at the scene heard an explosion. The last rocket attack by the Islamic movement on Tel Aviv dates back more than two months.

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced on Tuesday that it “launched two M90 rockets at Tel Aviv and its suburbs” from the Gaza Strip, which has been torn apart by war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement since October 7.

The Israeli army confirmed that “a projectile identified as coming from the Gaza Strip fell in the maritime area of central Israel”, about 70 kilometers from the Palestinian territories.

The shots came as Israel announced on Thursday that it would send negotiators to resume discussions on a truce in Gaza.

For its part, Hamas said it prefers to implement a three-stage plan for a permanent ceasefire proposed by US President Joe Biden at the end of last May “rather than further negotiations.”
