In sixth place last year, Roma started their 2023-2024 season in Serie A with a draw on Sunday at Stadio Olimpico against Salernitana (2-2), with Andrea Belotti and Antonio Candreva each scoring twice.
Roma started their match perfectly by putting in some power. Andrea Belotti opened his counter, who has not scored since May 1, 2022 in the tournament, leaving Ochoa no chance of getting close (17). The former Torino was denied scoring the first goal due to offside, and scored from a cross pass from Cristante (seventh).

Andrea Belotti ended a streak of 34 matches without scoring in the tournament.
But Salernitana managed to overthrow the Romans, thanks to a wonderful brace from Antonio Candreva. He first put his team level with a heavy shot into the box after easily eliminating Smalling (36th) and then put them top of the score with a brilliant sequence of air control from the right, curling shot from the left (49th).
Finally Andrea Belotti put the two teams on equal footing with a superb header, off a corner kick by Leandro Paredes. The former Parisian played on the hour mark, as did Renato Sanchez while Houssem El Aouar played the entire match. On the side of the formation led by Paulo Sousa, Benoit Costil remained on the bench.
