St. Frederic. The proof is in; the second year of the new St. Frederic Festival Committee was a success. The 2024 edition will take place from August 15 to 18.
“It was fantastic. It was another success this year,” said Kevin Lessard, president of the organizing committee, estimating that 3,500 festival-goers passed through the municipality during the four days of the event. “We have a very beautiful site. People were excited to see how many people were in Saint-Frédéric!”
In particular, Mr. Lessard pointed to the approximately 460 pairs of hands clapping for comedian Julien Lacroix on Thursday, the nine teams participating in the ball tournament and the 24 teams in the new pocket tournament on Sunday, or even the approximately 1,400 happy revelers who joined the beach party on Friday night. “We are the only festival that has a beach party! Flowers and glow sticks were handed out. There was a net of balloons falling on people. It makes for a great evening!” he said.
For the curious, it was Annick Lessard who won first place on Sunday afternoon, during the 12th round.H A print of the duck race in the Rue du Parc.
Last year, a new committee took over the event after it had been kept out of the public eye for many years. As a “group of young, slightly angry friends,” I was delighted that they agreed to carry the torch.
