Since May 5, Ana Tirador has opened the doors to her work in Portuguese specialties, and this was clearly to be expected.
The Portuguese community, so important in the region, had to travel to Villeneuve-sur-Lot to find their favorite products. The store is located in the heart of the city in an ideal location, and the constant influx of customers proves that this business has a bright future ahead. “We arrived in the area in 2004, my husband worked in the fields, then we bought a small plot of land to grow our vegetables and sell them in the markets. Then the idea came to us to create this business, because you had to go to Villeneuve-sur-Lot to find products from Portugal,” he explains Young shop owner. Created as a small establishment, this micro-enterprise does not lack in assets, starting with a large car park, and a variety of Portuguese products capable of satisfying the most demanding gourmets.
There is, of course, popular Portuguese wines such as Vinho Verde, and of course Port or Madeira wines. In addition to Bacalhau (cod), Pastels de nata, or Feijoada, other typically Portuguese products are on the shelves of this charming grocery store.
“My husband goes once or twice a month to Portugal to look for products that can’t be found in the wholesalers in the area,” says the manager.
Some projects are in the cards of these dynamic merchants, notably creating a tapas tasting place.
