According to a new study by Harris Interactive, 53% of French people who have a new partner say they do not systematically protect themselves.

Why this high number? “We already have a lack of information, a lack of prevention, Judge Florence Thon, Director General of sidaction. Above all, the observation is that unfortunately, most people have forgotten that HIV is still there. It is invisible but always present.”
However, 82% of French people believe they are well informed. “People are stuck with the image of HIV from the 1990s. All the excuses are valid, but it's a deadly virus when you don't have treatment. And when you have the virus, you have to live with it your whole life.”

Vaccine: Serious Ways
In the same study, three-quarters of French people believe that the risk of pollution to themselves is low. “It only takes once. The French will not test themselves either. They declare their status. If you are HIV positive, you must continue to protect yourself. And if you are HIV positive, you are on treatment and you are no longer contaminated while you are on treatment. It is important to benefit from scientific progress.”
25th International HIV Conference opens in Munich“Science advances. Florence Thun, General Manager of sidaction, explains. We are looking for a treatment that can cure it permanently. There are serious methods. We have also made great progress in the field of prevention: Preventive treatment is given every six months by injection. Just as protective as a condom.”
