How to transfer files from smartphone to Windows PC? If an old USB cable does, many people email their files. Cloud solutions like using Google Photos to transfer snapshots always save time. And if it is possible to do without all that, but also the cable? Soon it will be a reality.
Apple device users, especially those with macOS and an iPhone, like to remember: AirDrop, the process that allows files to be transferred wirelessly from one Apple device to another, is still a real feature of this ecosystem. Google just announced that its AirDrop equivalent for Android, Nearby Share, is coming to Windows PC.
How do you use Nearby Share?
To enable this, Google has developed a Windows app. This is not currently available in France and is still in beta, but here’s how it works in a nutshell.
It is possible to transfer almost any type of file, video, document, audio, or even entire folders, from any new Android smartphone (Android 6 and above) to a Windows 10 and above computer. Once the application is properly configured, it is also possible to do the opposite and send files from your PC to an Android smartphone.
We find the vision system already present on the Android smartphone, which makes it possible to make the device visible to contacts, to its own, to everyone or even to nobody to keep quiet.
To activate Nearby Share on your smartphone it is necessary to activate Bluetooth and then you have to search in the Shortcuts pane for the Nearby Share icon.
