The Embassy of France shares the conviction with the Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 that sport changes lives and is an incomparable driving force for unity, cohesion, education and inclusion. The embassy thus joins the Terre de Jeux 2024 community, which includes thousands of local authorities in major cities and French overseas, French sports federations and French embassies located on the five continents.
The Terre de Jeux 2024 brand is an invitation to celebrate the values of sport, friendship, respect and tolerance all over the world, far from competition.
With this designation, the French Embassy in Portugal undertakes to work with the Olympic and Paralympic Movement in Portugal to:
- celebrating athletes, sports and their values;
- encourage the exercise of sport for all, and especially for the French living in Portugal;
- Contribute to sustainable development and international solidarity through sport.
Until 2024, the Embassy will offer activities and challenges at key times, such as Olympic Day on June 23, Olympic and Paralympic Week in February or the International Day of Sport in the Service of Peace and Development on April 6.

Sport is a great tool for diplomacy
The vector of influence as well as economic development, the engine of our territory’s attractiveness, sport opens up a renewed field for the work of the diplomatic network.
The Paris Games 2024 are fully in line with France’s actions on sustainable development, international cooperation, influence policy and key sectoral policies. Terre de Jeux 2024 enables the promotion of French know-how as a host country for major sporting events, and contributes to highlighting the universal values of sport, the Olympic Games and the disabled, such as peace, respect and friendship.
