The First Country Festival Comes to Plessisville on August 10th

On August 10, country music fans from the region will gather for the first Plessisville Country Festival at the Carrefour de la Rabelle.

“By organizing this event, we want to bring the excitement of country music to our area as much as possible,” said Wendy Manningham of Laurierville, one of the event organizers, along with her partner David Brisson-Bergeron and his mother Sylvie Bedard of Plessisville.

“There’s already a Country Ballroom that’s done really well since it opened in Plessisville,” Ms. Manningham recalls. “We’re seeing people get into it. Even the kids at school love listening to country music and dancing to it. That’s also the case with my two daughters, who are 14 and 15.”

Vital location

Melanie Turcotte's country dance lessons will open at 1 p.m., followed by an amateur karaoke competition at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., Ricky Mathers and his American country style will perform. Jonathan Hebert and Monia Mateo will perform at 4 p.m. The amateur karaoke competition winners will receive an award ceremony at approximately 5 p.m.

Méchoui de L'Érable will be on site for dinner and will be serving up Chicken Supreme. Also note the all-day food truck L'Érable Rouge and the food truck Les Délices Sucrés from 15-year-old Trois-Rivières resident Jordan Boissonnault.

The organization has not forgotten the younger ones as inflatable games will be installed at the Carrefour de L'Érable site.

After a second performance by Jonathan Hibbert and Monia Mathieu at 7 p.m., the country festival will close out the day with Tommy Bolin and his band at 8 p.m., followed by “Rêveur” by Martin Duford and his musicians.
