“I have sadly been informed of the death of three US visitors, two men and a woman, at a hotel in Exuma,” Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper said in a statement.

“The police are investigating and the cause of death is unknown,” he added, but “there is no suspicion of a violation.”

The official added that a fourth American woman was airlifted to the hospital, without elaborating on further details.

The facts took place at Sandals Emerald Bay, a luxury beachfront hotel on the island of Great Exuma.

“A health emergency was initially reported, and in accordance with our protocols, we immediately alerted medical professionals and local authorities,” Sandals Resorts commented, refusing to provide further details “out of respect for the privacy of our guests.”

On Friday, shortly after 9 a.m., police were informed that a man had been found “unconscious” at the hotel, police said.

As soon as they arrived, investigators in one of the villas found an unconscious first man lying on the ground. “No trauma was found,” police said, and the victim was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

In a second villa, the police found another man who had “fallen against the wall”, as well as a woman, lying on a bed, also dead.

The police added that this couple complained of suffering from an “illness” the day before and was “treated” before returning to their place of residence, without specifying their nature.
