The Portuguese Shega Party chief said on Friday that the Portuguese Shega Party will hold a global summit in Lisbon with several leaders of far-right parties in May, including former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini.
In a video statement, Chega Chairman Andre Ventura said Bolsonaro and Salvini had “already accepted the invitation to attend the big far-right global summit” on May 13-14.
He declared that “the presence of Jair Bolsonaro, Matteo Salvini and many other leaders of the European right places Lisbon as one of the new strongest centers of the right in Europe and one of the world references in the fight against socialism.”
In January 2022, the ruling Socialist Party of Portugal won an unexpected outright majority and the Social Democrats came second, but Chiga increased its support and became the third largest party in Parliament.
In March, Mr. Ventura told reporters that he was also considering inviting Marine Le Pen (France) or Geert Wilders (Netherlands), leaders of far-right parties in their countries.
