President of the Portuguese National Olympic Committee, José Manuel Constantino He received the title of honorary doctorate from the University of Lisbon, during a ceremony organized at the Faculty of Human Kinetics, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
This ceremony was attended by a large audience, an audience composed of teachers, students, leaders of sports federations and government representatives including Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Ana Catarina Méndez and Secretary of State for Youth and Sports João Paulo Correa, President. From the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, Vitor Patacco, the President of FMH, Luis Bettencourt Sardinha, and the Rector of the University, Luis Ferreira, as well as family and many friends.
In his speech, the Portuguese President highlighted the enormous contribution made by José Manuel Constantino to Portuguese sport and the Olympic movement, declaring that this ceremony is a day of celebration of sport because it honors a man who dedicated his life to his passion, sport and spirit. He is a prominent spokesman for the Olympic spirit in Portugal.
