In order to carry out these tests, we started by observing the quality of the materials (hardness, materials used, etc.), their design and their ergonomics (handle, presence of accessories, access to various buttons, etc.). We then measured the noise emitted by each of them at 50 cm (at speeds 1, 5, max and turbo speed). Finally, we timed how quickly each model was able to whip the egg whites to stiff peaks.
Selection of the 2 best electric mixers to choose from in 2023
Bosch Styline MFQ4020: the quietest
This blender seduces us with its light weight and non-slip handle. With 450 watts, it was very efficient and it only took 40 seconds to beat the egg whites. However, despite its five speeds, we found the Turbo mode to be too much like fifth gear, which makes it useless. During our tests, the device was very quiet (70dB at full speed). Equipped with 2 kneading hooks and 2 stainless steel whisks, all of which can be washed in the dishwasher. Finally, we noticed that the beater tended to retain traces of flour more.
the most:
- 450 watts
- very calm
- Fast and efficient
- 5 speeds
- Equipped with dishwasher safe hooks
the least :
Braun HM5000WH: the most unusual
With unparalleled speed, this stand mixer from Braun beat us by whipping up a beaten egg white in just 35 seconds. It also manages to stand out thanks to its unusual design because the gear change is done with a wheel, and not with a slider. The device is equipped with 9 speeds, as well as Turbo mode. It remains very comfortable and offers a soft grip, allowing for a very comfortable hold in the hand. On the accessories side, the blender comes with two beaters and two hooks that are dishwasher safe. This model is also compatible with chopper and blender. On the other hand, we found it a bit noisy from seventh gear and found it a bit heavy.
the most:
- Very fast
- Unusual design with speed change thanks to a wheel
- 9 speeds
- Very comfortable (soft handle)
- Equipped with 2 beaters and 2 hooks. Dishwasher safe
the least :
- A little noisy from seventh gear
- A little heavy (about 1 kg)
Other models tested
- Severin HM 3820 : We found it excessively noisy during our tests.
- Russell Hobbs Desire 24670-56 : When using it, we found its turbo mode to be useless because it runs at the same speed as in the fifth position.
- Bosch ErgoMixx MFQ364V0 : During our tests, this device emitted an unpleasant smell.
5 main criteria for choosing the right electric mixer
According to our product experts, here are the main criteria to consider when choosing the right electric blender.
Material quality
- The majority of electric blenders are made of plastic, which is not ideal as it is a fragile material.
- Prefer stainless steel beaters for more resistance
power
- The number of watts for these devices is usually between 40 and 600 watts. Choose a blender with as much power as possible for more power
- Depending on your use (normal or not) and depending on the type of dough you want to beat, choose a device with power accordingly
number of gears
- The flapper speeds are usually between 3 and 5. The higher the number, the higher the accuracy of the device
- Be warned, some of the turbo modes are just for decoration and are actually like fifth gear
Dimensions
- Depending on the space in your kitchen, choose (or not choose) a smaller appliance
- Head for more convenient devices that are easy to store
Accessories provided
- Some appliances offer several accessories such as bowls or a storage rack
- Prioritizing steel vessels for durability
