Valiant will see a single-player campaign consisting of 15 missions centered on the character Theoderich taking up arms to take on Ulrich, his former brother. Ulrich is currently terrorizing Europe and the Holy Land by leading a crusade to find an ancient relic, Aaron’s Rod.
During its announcement, The Valiant reveals more about its gameplay. The game focuses on smaller troops (less common in RTS), tactical combat, and RPG style heroes. Some of the mechanics of traditional strategy games such as large-scale base building are largely neglected. The gameplay is very similar to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2, but with knights in a historical context.
The player will be able to decide which units to attend in each mission as well as assign different skills and equipment to their heroes. Then, on the battlefield, fast-paced melee-centric battles will lead to brutal and bloody battles.
For the multiplayer aspect, players will be able to choose the options of co-op, PVE, or PVP. In PVP or PVE, players will be able to fight each other in 1v1 or 2v2 scenarios. In co-op mode, you can play with up to two other friends to try to survive in the Last Man Standing concept where waves of enemies, including mini bosses and bosses, try to hack your defenses.
The game is planned for PC of course, but also for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. A release date has not been announced.
