sFour days after the Versailles summit, the 27 EU finance ministers gathered in Brussels to start the business. The Ecofin Council’s agenda on Tuesday was largely reworked in order to cushion the economic shock of the war in Ukraine. “The supply shock is only due to energy inflation,” sums up Bruno Le Maire who will head up the work for a “rapid, targeted and temporary economic response.”
Commissioner Vestager has been invited by France to participate in this Ecofin as well as Commissioner Gentiloni, who is seated there by right. The Dane must already present to ministers measures that will be authorized on an exceptional basis and that are not bound by European competition law.
