Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. – This month marks, among other things, the return of meteor showers in the sky.
April will include its share of astronomical events. Quebecers who love to watch the sky will not be neglected!
Reconciliation between Mars and Saturn
Venus, Mars, and Saturn close the month of March. But these planets will still be present at the beginning of April. Before they separate, Mars and Saturn will unite again. The two planets will appear very close on the morning of Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5, about an hour before sunrise. Both will shine to the right of Venus.
next full moon
On the third weekend of the month, turn your eyes to the sky! Another astronomical event will illuminate the star vault: the red moon. This full moon takes its name from the fact that sunlight illuminates the body of the moon. This light is then filtered as it passes through Earth’s atmosphere. The next full moon will be visible on Saturday, April 16.
back to want
Since last January, astronomy buffs don’t have much to look at when it comes to photographing stars. But all this calm will finally end! Through the night of Thursday, April 21 and into the early hours of Friday, April 22, the Lyrids will parade through the skies.
On average, it is possible to observe between 15 and 20 meteors per hour. The best time to view them would be between midnight and 2am local time, just before moonrise. Once the latter is above the horizon, the light of the lunar star will make it difficult to detect some Lyrids.
Finally, a partial solar eclipse will occur on April 30th. However, this will only be visible to some residents of the southeastern Pacific and southern South America, including Argentina.
