Justin Trudeau announced this Wednesday in Latvia, where he is attending a NATO meeting. The intensive training program that Ukrainian soldiers will follow in Quebec was developed in partnership with NATO.
Almost 40,000 Ukrainian military and security personnel have already been trained in Latvia, in particular thanks to the participation of the Canadian Armed Forces.
For retired Brigadier General Gaston Cotet, this type of training is clearly beneficial to Ukrainian forces and making a difference in the current conflict.
“What we notice, the Ukrainians are more capable of making decisions at a very low level. In other words, they show more initiative and have a better tactical sense than we noticed among the Russian groups,” he said in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
