Although Donald Trump claims that the top of his ear was pierced by the shooter's bullet last Saturday, the Republican candidate likely suffered a minor injury, believes physician and former health minister Yves Bolduc.

“I don't think it went through, but it touched the top of the ear, otherwise it would have been necessary to reconstruct it,” he said in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
The latter believes that at most, the cartilage could have been affected.
“If there is a clean cut, it is very rare to put stitches in it. It may be possible, but in my opinion, it is touched and then, at that moment, with the bandage, we can apply pressure,” explains Dr. Bolduc.
But the former minister said the bullet could easily have been fatal.
“It was a very lucky injury, because we were a millimetre or two away from the head,” he says.
It is also not unlikely that Donald Trump may have minor after-effects, such as tinnitus.
“A ball passing near this shape can certainly make a certain sound. It also gives a vibration to the ear,” recalls Dr. Yves Bolduc.
As for the bandage, it is difficult for the Quebec doctor to say whether it is excessive or appropriate in relation to Mr. Trump's injury.
“Maybe there is a symbolism he wants to represent at this time,” the former health minister recalls.
But Dr. Bolduc reiterates that if there is an injury, it is minor.
“We are not talking about reconstruction again, no major surgery. If it had affected a large part of the ear, it would have been necessary to have surgery by a specialist.”
