The final results of the presidential election in Algeria are known. They were announced on Saturday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. by the Constitutional Court, which ruled on the appeals filed by the unsuccessful candidates, Abdelali Hassani Cherif (Movement of Society for Peace) and Youcef Aouchiche (Socialist Forces Front).

Both appeals were accepted in form and substance. The President of the Constitutional Court, Omar Belhadj, said in a statement broadcast live on Algerian television.

Algeria's presidential election: Tebboune officially declared winner

The Constitutional Court noted that the number of votes cast during these presidential elections amounted to more than 11 million votes out of an electoral college comprising more than 24.5 million voters.

According to the court, the turnout in the presidential elections held on September 7 was 46.1%, and President Tebboune received 7,976,291 votes, or 84.3%. He was followed by Abdelali Hassani Cherif, who received 940,642 votes, or 9.5% of the votes, then Youssef Aouchiche, who received 580,495 votes, or 6.14%.

Based on these results, the Constitutional Court announced that outgoing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune had obtained an absolute majority of votes, and was elected President of the Republic for a second term. The President of the Constitutional Court said that he would assume his duties immediately after taking the constitutional oath.

The head of the Independent Electoral Commission (ANI), Mohamed Cherif, revealed today, Sunday, the preliminary results of the presidential elections, which confirmed the victory of the outgoing president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with an overwhelming majority of 94.65% out of 5,630,196 votes.

His two rivals received only low marks: 3.17% for Abdelali Hassani Cherif and 2.16% for the Socialist Forces Front (FFS) candidate Youcef Aouchiche. On Tuesday, September 10, the two dissatisfied candidates filed appeals to the Constitutional Court, Algeria's highest judicial body created during the 2020 constitutional revision.

Abdul Aal Al-Hasani and Youssef Awashish rejected the preliminary results announced by the head of Al-Ani on Sunday, September 8.
