Marin Stargazers, founded by Dan Smiley of Mill Valley, will host a free stargazers party Monday.

• Marin Stargazers, founded by Mill Valley resident Dan Smiley, is hosting a free “star party” on Monday. Telescopes will be available to capture stunning views of Saturn, Jupiter and the lunar surface. This free public event takes place from 4:45-7 p.m. Monday at Piper Park at 250 Doherty Drive in Larkspur. Eliminates rain or fog. Sign up at [email protected] for more information.

• Thomas Targett, assistant professor of physics and astronomy at Sonoma State University, will discuss “Fast and Far: The High Redshift Universe” at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 at HopMonk Tavern at 224 Vintage Way in Novato. The event is hosted by Wonderfest, a non-profit organization founded by Corte Madera resident Tucker Hiatt, to promote informal science education.
