UEFA Champions League: Chelsea knock out Borussia Dortmund at Stamford Bridge – rts.ch

Chelsea qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. And the Blues, with Zakaria from the 87th place, beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in London, who played without Copil, after losing 1-0 in the first leg in Germany.

The Graham Potter men have arguably put in their best performance in a long time. And they scored through Sterling (44th) and Havertz (53rd from the penalty spot), who actually hit the post in the first half.

And so Chelsea finally scored more than one goal in a single game in 2023. The timing proved perfect, because if Londoners want to contest the Champions League next season, they have only one way: win the current edition.

Borussia without kopecks

Gregor Coppell was injured in training last weekend and hasn’t recovered enough to replace him at Stamford Bridge. The Zurich goalkeeper, the hero of the first leg, was replaced by Alexander Mayer, who was not worthy.

BVB, who had won their 10 matches since the start of the year, saw this impressive run come to an end at the worst possible time. However, the Germans were given several chances, but Arrizabalaga always vetoed it. Zakaria entered late in the game (87′) for Chelsea.
