What should have been a happy event turned tragic Thursday in the United States, when a young woman lost her life in a car accident just after her graduation ceremony.
The accident happened around 12:30 pm in Colts Neck, New Jersey. Lauren Husky, 18, was coming home from graduating from Brookdale Community College’s pre-college program.
The report said she was in a Jeep Cherokee — driven by a 17-year-old boy — when the vehicle struck an electric pole before flipping onto its side. New York Post Saturday.
The death of the young woman was announced immediately. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.
Lauren Hewski was an alumnus of St. John Vianney High School and was part of an advanced program that allowed her to take classes at Brookdale Community College. She was also among the youngest graduates of this program, and the university’s president, David M. Stout, V.; Asbury Park Press.
“Lauren was an incredibly intelligent and talented young woman, who made an indelible, positive impression on all of her teachers and classmates,” he said.
According to her high school principal, Margaret Keene, Lorraine Husky was a “gifted student and athlete”. The community has “suffered a great loss,” she added.
