US finds no new pathogens in genetic tests for mysterious canine disease – 12/22/2023

The tests that affect the mysteries do not have to worry about those who touch the chiens and other diseases that cannot be detected by new pathogenic agents that do not cause a connection to the vague infections that alert the company’s properties, to clarify the Ministry of Agriculture.

In contrast, common causes of infectious respiratory disease in dogs were identified in many of these cases through genetic sequencing of the samples, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said in an emailed statement.

The disease has affected dogs in at least 14 states. It can last four to six weeks and cause mild inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which can develop into pneumonia.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, respiratory diseases in dogs typically spread from one dog to another through direct contact or through contaminated surfaces.

So far there is no evidence that the disease can be transmitted to humans, but veterinarians are warning dog owners to be extra careful this holiday season when pets travel with family or are placed in dog shelters.

Although cases have been reported for months, the American Veterinary Medical Association recently increased its public warnings for the holiday season.

Laboratories in the USDA’s National Animal Health Laboratories Network and National Veterinary Services Laboratories are conducting genetic sequencing to determine the cause of the disease, the USDA said.

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is working with several state animal health officials and diagnostic laboratories regarding reporting, the USDA said, adding that APHIS and its partners “will keep the public informed of upcoming developments and information.”
