Skydivers enjoying the Egyptian landscape were in for a big surprise when they spotted a dog on top of the pyramid.

“We noticed something wandering around at the top of the pyramid,” Marshall Mosher told CNN.

On October 14, the American posted a video clip on Instagram showing him descending by parachute at sunrise with a few of his colleagues. “One person thought it was a mountain lion,” he said.

The adventurers quickly grabbed their phones when they realized it was actually a dog in order to film the scene. This was on top of Khafre, the second largest pyramid in Egypt at 136 meters (448 feet).

Mr Mosher believed the dog had been taken, but claimed that “if he went there alone, he could get down on his own, unless he found a secret gate to help him out.”

He revealed that the animal was no longer in the same place when the expert parachuted in the next day.

Hundreds of stray dogs can be spotted near the pyramids, according to Mosher.

The video quickly spread on social media, with more than 965,000 people liking the post as of this writing. Many netizens were impressed, saying that the blocks that make up the pyramids are “huge.”

“He marked his territory,” a few users joked.

Others remain skeptical about the animal's ability to climb so many blocks.

“It's a crazy climb for a dog,” one woman said. I'm not convinced.
