An American tourist lost her life after an elephant collided with a vehicle while on safari in Kafue National Park in Zambia.
In a video clip circulated on social media, we can see the African stallion carrying the bus in which a group of six passengers were.
Under the force of the collision, the car flipped onto its side. Two passengers were injured and taken to hospital. One of them, an 80-year-old woman, died from her wounds.
The other four tourists were treated for minor injuries.
A helicopter was sent to the scene to evacuate the passengers.
“All our guides are well trained and experienced, but unfortunately the terrain and vegetation blocked the driver’s path and he could no longer move the vehicle to safety fast enough,” said Keith Vincent, CEO of Wilderness Zambia Group.
He added: “This is a tragic event and we send our condolences to the family of the traveler who died.”
