Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has revealed that he has turned down a move to Milan this summer.
The 23-year-old impressed on loan at Milan in the 2020-21 season, making 33 appearances in all competitions.
The Rossoneri were keen to sign him on a permanent basis and former coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was ready to let the Portugal international go.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who signed for £50m from Crystal Palace.
But the Norwegian’s departure from Old Trafford was a blessing for Dalot.
The Portuguese is now the first choice of Ralf Rangnick when the German took over on a temporary basis last November.
Dalot revealed that he refused to move to the San Siro in order to fight for his place in the Theater of Dreams.
“Milan is a great club and I loved the season with the Rossoneri,” Metro quoted Dalot as saying.
” but this [transfert] She didn’t just depend on me. In the end, I decided to stay at United and it was the right decision.
“If I’m a better defender, I owe it to Milan.
“Over the last two years here in Manchester, the minutes have increased, and therefore the self-confidence has increased as well.”
Dalot was substituted at the end of the first half in Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday.
